About this guide
A reading desk, not a rating.
Ballot Desk makes the official Amendment 85 records easier to read without replacing the source documents or the official ballot language.
How to read this guide
Three things we keep separate.
Every explanation on this guide sits beside the public record it draws from. Read both before you decide.
- The record
- The official ballot question and the final initiative text, published by the state. This guide links to them in full, without annotations.
- Our explanation
- Plain-language notes that sit beside the record. Each note links back to the exact wording it explains.
- The limits
- This guide is not a government publication, an independent fact-checking service, or legal advice. It does not rate the measure or score its text.
Analytics: we use PostHog to count page views on this site. Analytics requests are sent to PostHog in the United States. We store a random, site-specific browser ID in local storage and rotate it after 30 days to estimate unique browsers, not people. We use no cookies, no cross-site matching, and no session replay. Rotation does not delete earlier events: PostHog's paid plan lists seven-year event retention, but we have not verified whether it is enforced for this project.
